Five Days

Well, I remember very well the days when I was saying the wedding was 168 days away. At that time, I was telling myself, "The next thing you know, it's going to be your wedding." But, somehow, that didn't seem true. When there were still 168 days left, it felt like the wedding was never going to come.

Now, there are only five days left, and it feels like yesterday I was saying "168 more days..." Time is a very strange thing. A million yesterdays always feel like they just happened, but tomorrow feels forever away. I wonder what that has to say about us as a species.

Anyway... here I am, the week of my wedding, and because Rachel is such an amazing planner, I have pretty much nothing to do. Today, we actually had to walk around the Waterfront to kill time between our bagel and coffee at Panera before our movie started at noon. We watched a matinee showing of M. Night's "Lady in the Water: A Bedtime Story" It was a very strange but fun movie. Of course, there was the obligatory creepy monster, and the jump out of your seat scenes M. Night does so well, but this had a light hearted nature that the rest of his films did not have. Rach loves M. Night movies, and says that the release of his fifth movie a week before our wedding was really a wedding gift to her from M. Night.

Now, I am printing off the name placards that the guests will find on the tables at the wedding, and then we are done planning the wedding. Everything we need to do is finished. Once this is done, we don't have to do anything other than hang out with family and friends before the wedding. (Oh, but Rach has to get her hair done tomorrow for the "trial run")

So, I guess it's all going pretty well. I'm excited, I can't wait to see all my friends again, and I can't wait to go to Puerto Vallarta and sit by the ocean drinking Mai Tais and Pina Coladas. Oh, what a life...

By the way... what's a Mai Tai?

Joshua -
A Mai Tai is a very good tropical alcoholic beverage.
Can't wait to see you!

Hi Josh,

So you have no idea who I am - but I am one of Rachel's friends (she's Rachie to me) from a few years back (OCBP 2000)...anyway, when I heard you were the lucky one to get to spend your life with Rachie, I thought I would Google you to see what I could find (maybe it's weird, but I like to Google people). Anyway - I found your blog and have been checking in to read it every now and then for a month or so...Anyway - I just wanted to say congrats to you and to e-introduce myself and remind you (not that you seem to need it) that you are a very lucky man to have landed yourself such a fine lady. I'm so sorry I can't be there for your wedding (unfortunately, I have prior family commitments) - but I am looking forward to the pictures ... best of luck!

Sorry... anyway, Rach says "Hi." and she laughed out loud when I read the post to her. She is sad you won't be there, but she totally understands.

Hope you weren't too freaked out by my blog! I can get a little schizo on this thing from time to time...

Yau are getting married? When? Can I come? Can I wear a Ben Roetheliberger motorcycle helmet? Does Pittsburgh smell nicer than Cleveland in the summer? Who is Rachel? Can I meet her? Why does my pee come out yellow sometimes and clear other times? Did you know that Tim wrote a blog about Brokeback Mountain?

I don't know if the Yau is getting married or not.

And yes to everything else except the pee. That's because you haven't had enough to drink. The typical clear, yellow, or yellow-orange (usually a sign of dehydration) color of urine is caused by the pigment urochrome, but also from the degradation products of bilirubin and urobilin. Unusual coloration may be the result of certain food products such as betacyanin as found in red beets.

Abnormal coloration from bleeding within the urinary system is termed hematuria (blood in the urine), a symptom that needs medical attention.

Dark orange to brown urine can be a symptom of jaundice or Gilbert's syndrome.

"Melanuria" refers to black or dark-colored urine and may be caused by a melanoma. Porphyria may also change the color of urine to a reddish or brown.

Turbid urine may be a symptom of a bacterial infection, but can also be due to crystallisation of salts in the urine which will dissolve if acetic acid (vinegar) is added. If turbidity occurs together with pain in the bladder region or during urinating, it is most probably due to an infection.

Good luck this weekend, my friend. May God bless the ceremony, the weather, and most importantly, the marriage.

LOL. So that's why it was yellow. And here I thought I had just eaten too many yellow bananas. Nothing like being able to relax BEFORE your wedding. Enjoy that and enjoy family and friends. And enjoy the fun adventure you and Rachel are about to embark on together. It is fun...I can promise you that. :)

What's up broham? I finally found this site. I forgot you were doing this. Anywho, congrats. That may be premature...I assume everything went well. If not, then is awkward then, huh.......?
Drop me a line when you get back into town and let me know how everything went.
Later.
